JOB DESCRIPTION

In this job you will be setting up and operating a variety of CNC Turning, Vertical and Horizontal machining centers. Duration of set-ups varies, once set-up, running times vary depending on the job order. You will be working in a production environment where all jobs have a measured standard production rate, and you will be responsible for the quality of your work. Most tasks require good hand/eye coordination and the full range motion of both hands and arms on a regular and repetitive basis.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Handling of piece parts ranging in weight from 1lb. to 25 lbs.
  • Deburring and cleaning of parts using various hand and power tools such as a belt sander or drill press.
  • Inspection of parts visually and using various measurement tools such as height gauges, micrometers and calipers.
  • Enrollment and successful completion of courses offered at S&C through S&C Continuous Improvement Institute are expected.
  • To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and plan daily work assignments in a self-directed changing environment.
  • Knowledge of shop math.
  • Proficient use of measuring equipment such as height gauges, micrometers and calipers.
  • Understanding of metal-cutting applications and machine practices.

Relevant Work Experience:

Set-up and operation of numerically controlled machines.


MAJOR PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Standing: Most tasks performed in a standing position.
  • Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 1lb. to 25 lbs. and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.Walking: Occasional walking short distances (less than one-eighth mile.
  • Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 1lb. to 50 lbs.
  • Pushing: Occasional pushing of part containers with manual hand truck.
  • Pulling: Occasional pulling of part containers with manual hand truck.
  • Bending: Occasional bending and crouching required to perform job tasks.
  • Reaching: Frequent reaching required to move parts from machine to tubs
  • Handling: Continuous handling of piece parts ranging in size from 1lb. to 25 lbs. along with a variety of hand tools.
