Brief Job Description: JHDC currently seeks an Studio Assistant (youth) to support in-person studio and programmatic work

Compensation: $14.00/hr, access to classes
Work Hours: Minimum four (4) hours per week, not to exceed ten (10) hours per week, to be scheduled evenings, and weekends
Status: Hourly employee, part-time (youth, 15 y/o (with valid permit) - 17 y/o)
Location: 4511 N. Clark, Chicago, IL 60640
Position Start Date: February 2026
Reports To: Executive Director
Primary Responsibilities: The Studio Assistant will be a part of the life and work of Joel Hall Dancers & Center. The selected candidate(s) will support in-person classes at our Uptown/Sheridan Park location. They will perform light administrative and maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities will include:
- Guest greeting and check-in
- In person sales / cash transactions
- Sweeping, mopping, and other light cleaning duties
- Answering the phone
- Helping with in-studio events
- Other related duties (as appropriate)
Essential Skills and Requirements:
- Comfort/proficiency with a personal computer (laptop) and e-tablet (Android)
- Familiarity or willingness to learn the Mindbody online booking system
- Must be self-motivated and organized
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Clear, prompt communication with JHDC team members
- Neat, professional, courteous manner and appearance appropriate for a creative arts organization Dependable, regular attendance
- Ability to count and make change without the aid of a calculator
- A “can-do” attitude and a desire to learn new things
Ideal candidates will have:
- Love of the arts and passion for the mission, vision, and cause of Joel Hall Dancers & Center
- Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude toward helping others
- Multilingual skills (please specify language)
