REDLINE VR IN RAVENSWOOD OFFERS YOUTH GAMING CAMP THIS WINTER

CHICAGO – Redline VR, located at 4702 N. Ravenswood, is Chicago’s immersive entertainment center and virtual reality arcade bar. This Winter, Redline VR is offering a one-of-a-kind day camp experience for kids ages 12-17 who are interested in gaming, virtual reality, or just need to get out of the house for a week. Every day from the 2nd to the 6th, campers will explore a wide range of games, including VR, with a focus on teamwork, sportsmanship and game theory. Monday, January 2nd - Friday, January 6th • 9am - 5pm

Campers can be dropped off starting at 8:45am, after which their camp leaders will lay out the objectives of the day and the games they will be playing. Games will include individual experiences, competitive multiplayer, and cooperative multiplayer challenges that range in complexity of both technology and mechanics. Games will be accompanied by lessons and discussions of theory and technology behind the games themselves, as well as the individual and interpersonal skills required to meet the challenges the games present. Games will be interspersed with breaks for snack and a longer break for lunch.

Video games in the modern age represent more than just entertainment or technological novelty. They are a major platform of communication and creative engagement for young people during a critical time in their social and emotional development. By engaging critically with the art and technology that is becoming the backdrop for much of their interpersonal interactions, campers are encouraged to understand the role video games play in their lives not just as a hobby. For any fans of gaming, those curious about the industry, or perhaps even ambitions towards video games as a career path, this camp is the perfect environment to play, learn and grow alongside a group of like-minded peers, led by a team of dedicated professionals.
