Hello Watercolor Painters!
Announcing the Sunday, June 11th Watercolor Workshop: (1-4pm)
“ITTY BITTY CITYSCAPES” (And Lil’ Lilies, Too!)
When I say “Itty Bitty,” I mean miniature paintings: the largest we’ll be doing is 3 1/2 x 5”.
You can work with some of my many urban reference photos, or rural scenes and floral studies. Or bring some of your own photos. Because we’ll be working small, you’ll have time to do at least one study of each. Although there will be uses for our beloved 1” flat brush, the #6 and #4 rounds will get plenty of use!
Working small will help us break down the elements of a composition to the most basic. These little gems will have you making decisions about what’s really important in a study and what should be discarded. And you’ll be delighted how charming these mini’s are when they’re grouped together. Find some ready-made frames, and you’ll have winning table-top collectibles, and unique gifts. And the exercise will help you become a better sketcher and painter— that’s a promise!
I’ll be working in Winsor Newton colors—Burnt Umber and Cobalt Blue for the little cityscapes, and a wider palette for the rural and floral studies. I’ll be taping little squares off on Arches Cold Press watercolor paper, using the 1” flat, and the #6 and #4 rounds.
You’ll need to bring a sketchbook, paints, brushes and blue painters tape. I’ll provide subject matter, painting boards, water vessels and sponges.
This has always been a fun and popular workshop in the past, so I hope you’ll be able to join us. Tuition is $50 for the class. And PLEASE NOTE, this class is being offered on SUNDAY ONLY, June 11th at 1-4pm.
Let me know ASAP if you’d like to join us, and please leave your phone #. All levels of experience are welcome!
