Step into a past era of elegance and sophistication with our Quadrille (Bridgerton) class, perfect for those preparing for formal balls or anyone enchanted by the Regency charm of Bridgerton. The Quadrille is a lively and structured dance from the 19th century, often performed at European ballrooms. Imagine it as a refined ancestor of the American square dance, where couples form patterns in a precise, elegant sequence.
In this class, you’ll learn the intricate figures and formations that define the Fledermaus Quadrille, which is danced at balls in Vienna even to this day. Whether you’re gearing up for a trip to Vienna or simply fascinated by the world of Bridgerton, our sessions will guide you through the dance’s rich history and graceful movements. No prior dance experience is necessary—just a love for the elegance and social charm that the Quadrille embodies.
What’s covered in each class:
The Fledermaus Quadrille is danced in six successive sequences, traditionally called Le Pantalon (“Trousers”), L’été(“Summer”), La Poule (“The Hen”), La Trénis (named for the dance master Trenitz), La Pastourelle (“The Shepherd Girl”), and the Finale. In each class, we focus on one of these sequences, emphasizing footwork, partnering, and overall posture and poise, while also exploring the refined elegance and cultural significance of the dance.
Remember, our classes are BYOB (no liquor, please), so feel free to bring your favorite beverage to keep the fun going!
