SUMMARY:Introduction to Needle Painting with Lauren Yeager
DESCRIPTION:Ready to level up your stitching? In this workshop you'll learn how to blend colors together to create new shades\, and also learn how to layer colors for starker color transitions. We will practice how to needlepaint from wider to narrower areas\, and move expertly around curves to create realistic-looking botanicals.\n\nWe will all be working from the same pre-printed pansy design but students will be able to choose their own thread colors.\n\n \n\nIncludes the following supplies:\n\n\n	Gold dupioni silk fabric with pre-printed floral embroidery design (14 x 14 in./ 35.6 cm.)\n	15 skeins of cotton embroidery floss\n	2 crewel needles\, size 9 (high-polish or nickel-free)\n	2 crewel needles\, size 10 (high-polish or nickel-free)\n	1 piece Kona white premium cotton muslin: 14 x 14 in./ 35.6 cm.\n	Polished beechwood embroidery hoop (8 in./20.3 cm)\n	9-page full color instruction packet\n\n \n\nAbout Lauren: Lauren Yeager is a textile artist with a particular interest in studying and preserving traditional garments and embroidery. This led her to studying with the Royal School of Needlework in the UK\, and later with the Japanese Embroidery Center and Ecole Lesage as well. She has a BFA in Fashion Design from Columbia College in Chicago\, and has received multiple awards for construction and design in costume and in hand embroidery\, including the DCASE individual artist grant from the City of Chicago. Most recently\, Lauren worked as a senior educator for the San Francisco School of Needlework & Design before independently launching Elba Embroidery. Previously\, Lauren was a production assistant for visual artist Nick Cave in his Chicago studio\, building soundsuits for museum installations and private collections. She has extensive experience as a freelance artist\, assisting in costume production for various performances and competitions.
