SUMMARY:Brought to Light: A Gathering of Voices
DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate the closing reception for Brought to Light: A Gathering of Voices exhibition featuring artists Merudjina and Annalise Castro! In this exhibit each artist gathers narratives from individual and communal voices that take form through painted canvas and sound. Merudjina weaves stories by connecting the body and inner-self to other survivors in their paintings and immersive sound scape. Annalise's multimedia painting series uplifts a community narrative from survivor voices based on a call for anonymous stories in early 2022. Castro invite viewers "to live with the survivor's words for a short while and honor their resilience." While Merudjina encourages folks to add their own voice on the interactive "feedback wall" in reflection and response to seeing these stories.
