SUMMARY:ACM Cafe Concert Series
DESCRIPTION:ACM is hosting a summer series in our cafe at 1758 W Wilson Ave. Join us select Saturdays at 5pm for free live music! The first concert is June 24th and will feature the Casey Nielsen Trio with Richie Pardo and Bugs Cochran. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPop by the cafe June 24th for some late afternoon jazz!\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout the trio: \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCasey Nielsen\, guitar\n\n\n\nCasey was 12 when he began to study classical guitar with Paul Henry of Roosevelt University\, adding lessons with Chicago jazz guitarist Neal Alger at 14. He earned a BM in Jazz Studies from NIU\, studying both genres with internationally renowned Fareed Haque and three more years\, post graduation\, with classical guitarist Denis Azabagic\, also at Roosevelt. Casey performs solo recitals throughout the Chicago area and is a jazz bandleader and sideman in various groups throughout the USA.\n\n\n\nHe has given solo and chamber music concerts for the North Shore Baptist church\, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church\, Baker Memorial Church\, the Northbrook Library\, the Elgin Library and Geneva's Fabian Park Japanese Garden series. The Lapis Trio is an acoustic group drawing on Casey's study of the classical and jazz guitar. Lapis Trio has performed at venues including the Musical Offering's Music on Madison concert series\, Church of Beethoven\, and Merriman's Playhouse. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nRichie Pardo\, bass\n\n\n\nPardo has been playing music professionally in the Chicago area since the 1970s\, He started out as a pianist working in various R&B bands and then as a pianist in Chicago jazz bands before deciding in 1979 to switch to bass\, which he continues to play.\n\n\n\nBugs Cochran\, Drums\n\n\n\nBugs Cochran has been playing on the scene since the age of 15 and started out playing with the great SunRa and other greats such as Gene Ammons\, Johnny Griffin\, John Gilmore\, and many others! It's time to honor Bugs for all his years of commitment to the Jazz scene for over 70 years!
